Research of the severity of the leading types of international relationships among professional young men and women in dancing sports

The results of studying the severity of the leading types of interpersonal relations among ballroom dancers on a professional level are presented. The purpose of the study consists in studying the severity of different leading types of interpersonal relationships with the social environment among professional dancers, studying the sexual features of the process of social cognition by male and female partners of the socio-psychological determinants of each other within the framework of joint dance and sports activities.

As a diagnostic tool the author used the Test of diagnosis of interpersonal relations T. Leary in adaptation L. N. Sobchik. The research showed that the “Responsible-generous” is the predominant type of interaction in interpersonal relationships for dancers of both sexes, both in self-evaluation and bilateral assessment. 

The study also obtained results postulating the presence of gender differences in the subjective assessment and assessment “from” the leading type of interpersonal relations of their partners among professional dancers. Female dancers tend to underestimate such leading interpersonal relations types as “Responsible-generous” and “Managerial-autocratic” in young men, relative to these self-assessments. Also, they overestimate the “Modest-Self-effacing” and “Docile-dependent” types. Whereas male dancers clearly determine the “Docile-dependent” type in young female dancers. However, they tend to overestimate the severity of such leading types of interpersonal relations in girls as “Competitive-narcissistic” and “Cooperative-over-conventional”.  

The study results will enrich the theoretical basis of dance sports and improve the socio-psychological field of studying intersex interaction within the framework of jointly performed activities.
