Abstract

The article examines socio-psychological aspects of interaction among Generation Z in the digital environment. The aim was to identify digital challenges and resources that affect the development and expression of young people’s emotional intelligence. The methodology of the study is based on a systematic review of Russian and international publications using comparative and synthetic approaches.

The results indicate an ambivalent influence of the digital environment on Gen Z’s emotional intelligence. The main challenges include superficial perception of information, digital addiction and emotional burnout. At the same time, the digital environment offers resources: educational opportunities, development of cross-cultural empathy, self-presentation, and formation of a digital identity. The conclusion was reached that a balance must be struck between minimizing the risks of digitalization and unlocking its positive potential. The scientific novelty of the article consists in a comprehensive examination of the digital environment as both a barrier and a resource for forming emotional intelligence.

The practical significance lies in the possibility of applying results to the development of programs for digital pedagogy and social support of youth, as well as in designing trainings on self-regulation and empathetic communication.
