THE CURRENT STATE OF THE TOURIST INDUSTRY IN BULGARIA

Abstract

The current state of the Bulgarian tourist industry has been analysed. The tour-ism sector is the key sector of the Bulgarian economy with more than 10 % of gross domestic product of country. Countries of the European Union represent the main part of the inbound tourism in Bulgaria. Most of the tourists visit Bulgaria for recreation. The concept of tourist zoning, approved in 2015, for facilitating the which promotes more qualitative marketing of country’s tourism potential in foreign markets is discussed in the article. The main prob-lems and the mechanisms for solving them undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism for improv-ing the tourist attractiveness of the country has been indicated.
