Abstract

The mechanisms of smoothing the spatial heterogeneity of migration flows, which is one of the key issues of demography, regional economics, and public administration, have been studied. The imbalance in population distribution between regions and municipalities leads to increased economic inequality, a decrease in the quality of life in peripheral and adjacent territories, a demographic crisis, and an overload of large cities. The relevance of the research topic is due to the need to adapt migration policy to changing conditions, including digitalization, remote employment development, and new forms of labor mobility. The purpose of the study is to identify effective tools that promote more uniform population movement and eliminate territorial disparities. Methods of statistical analysis and comparative study of international and Russian experience through research of scientific sources have been applied. The main results include the classification of the mechanisms influencing migration flows regulation and the definition of measures (strategies) for their management. Measures have been proposed to stimulate economic activity in regions with a migration outflow, including investment programs, employment projects development, transport accessibility and infrastructure projects improvement. The practical application of the findings covers the spheres of migration policy management, strategic planning, regional development programs implementation, and sustainable social structures formation.

Abstract

The interrelationships of economic, demographic, and social factors determining regional economic security have been studied using the Krasnodar Region case. The study covers the period 2012-2022 and includes an analysis of 12 significant indicators such as gross regional product, labor productivity index, and unemployment rate. Based on the correlation analysis, key indicators have been selected for building regression models. Based on the regression modeling results, it has been found that the selected indicators have a nonlinear relationship with gross regional product. A factor analysis has been carried out, as a result of which three groups of factors affecting regional economic security have been identified, with the most significant factors being from the Demographic and Economic Indicators group. Data clustering has demonstrated structural changes in regional economy related to integration into international markets. Binning has been carried out, according to the results of which it has become possible to draw a conclusion about the relationship between unemployment rate and regional economic wellbeing. A logistic regression has been built, and a binary model has been obtained for predicting unemployment rate with a predictive power of 76.6%. Based on the conducted analyses, the most significant indicators for regional economic security have been identified: gross regional product, total fertility rate, and share of high-tech industries in gross regional product. The need for an integrated approach to ensuring economic security has been emphasized, and attention has been focused on supporting innovative sectors and balanced economic development.

Abstract

The subject of the study is social and economic relations of socially oriented non-profit organizations, which are developing in relation to ensuring economic security of a state. The purpose of the study is to determine the role and place of such organizations in the state–business–society three-sector model, which is the necessary basis for ensuring social and economic security of a state. The research methodology is based on the use of the interdisciplinary theory of the society three-sector model, which is applied to assess the role and place of socially oriented non-profit organizations in ensuring economic security of a state. It has been proved that economic security of a state is formed and supported not only by state institutions, but also by private institutions of the commercial sector, as well as entities of the non-profit sector. Socially oriented non-profit organizations not only act as partners of a state and its population and economic entities of the commercial sector, but also create a deep foundation for social and economic justice and a fundamental basis for social and economic security at the level of people’s consciousness. The sphere of the obtained results application is defined as political activities implementation and civil society formation through the use of legal, economic, social, and other methods, mechanisms, and tools in order to ensure economic security of a state. It has been concluded that the activities of socially oriented non-profit organizations should be regulated according to one of the three proposed models of state regulation, depending on the goal-setting of non-profit organizations and the depth of their tasks to strengthen economic security of a state.

Abstract

The expansion of the possibilities of conducting the pricing policy of a retailer of normal goods during the transition to a dynamic pricing strategy has been considered. The market of such goods has been defined as an oligopolistic market of goods with saturated demand and purpose of production. The main method of researching aspects of pricing is the market mathematical modeling. To characterize it, the concept of the saturation coefficient of the market has been introduced, which shows the rate of decrease in the equilibrium price of goods with an increase in the total number of such goods on the market. Special demand functions have been developed that reflect the characteristics of a normal product with saturated demand, and algorithms for estimating the parameters of such a product using econometric methods have been built. The issue of optimizing dynamic price of a product has been formulated in a general way, and its mathematical model has been constructed, which uses a special demand function. An algorithm for solving the issue for a stepwise price function using the Lagrange conditional optimization method has been developed. A critical range of parameters characterizing the properties of a product being sold has been determined, going beyond which requires a transition to dynamic pricing. The optimal values of stepwise dynamic price have been determined. A methodology for optimizing dynamic pricing in a specific retail organization selling normal goods has been compiled, and ways to improve the methodology have been indicated when considering the competitive environment in which an enterprise in question operates.

Abstract

Amid the turbulence of the global economy, changes are also taking place in population’s well-being, which are recorded not only in the poorest countries, but also in relatively developed countries such as the USA. The comparison of indicators determining the standard of living in the Southeastern United States has been carried out. The purpose of the study is to compare the standard of living in the Southeastern United States and identify trends in the standard of living in these states. The objectives of the study are to form a ranking of states according to the rating of each considered indicator of living standards and a general ranking for all three analyzed indicators of living standards, identifying their dynamics. According to the study results, in the states with a more diversified structure of the national economy, the quality of life is higher. Moreover, in these regions, the insignificant impact of external factors on the social and economic development and the standard of living has been established. Such factors include the impact of global economic crises. The study has not revealed any trends in changes in the standard of living in the future in the regions under consideration. In some states (for example, in West Virginia), the negative impact of scientific and technological progress on the economy state is noticeable, which is reflected in the transition of the energy industry to more modern and cheaper fuels such as shale gas.

Abstract

The issue of improving interaction in B2B markets based on knowledge management has been studied. The conducted research of consumer behavior in the process of interaction between business clients and a KIBS company revealed a trend towards a gradual decrease in their activity, which invariably leads to an aging of the customer base and an outflow of customers. Considering the main advantages of KIBS companies, namely a high level of expertise and extensive knowledge bases, it has been proposed to include expert and educational content in the interaction process, which will not only transfer knowledge to customers during the interaction, but also form longterm loyalty by creating strong relationships between participants. The types of knowledge-based communications have been identified, and their phased implementation has been proposed. The conducted research allowed us to develop a model of interaction between a KIBS company and business clients, considering communication activity regression. A shift in the focus of knowledge-based communications from informing to involving and educating has been revealed. The omnichannel inclusion of expert and educational content in the process of interaction between a KIBS brand and a client company is not only justified, but also necessary to preserve and develop the client base of KIBS companies and strengthen its competitiveness.

Abstract

The issues of state financial support for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (hereinafter referred to as SMEs) have been studied. These enterprises have the ability to flexibly adapt to the conditions of both the internal and external environment. The distinctive features of SMEs are their openness to managerial, technological, and marketing innovations, their ability to respond promptly to market demand, and develop new business lines. SMEs have other advantages of responding flexibly to a changing business environment. The forms and methods of state support for SMEs at the regional level have been considered. It has been noted that at the present stage of the Russian economy development, one of the characteristic features of the country’s economic space is noticeable imbalances in the regional social and economic development, especially between the western and eastern constituent entities. The analysis shows that the implementation of the considered forms and types of financial state support requires large amounts of budget funds to support SMEs. Wider use of various forms of non-financial support is advisable. To stimulate the activities of regional SMEs, it is necessary to create a favorable environment for entrepreneurship and implement a set of institutional support measures.

Abstract

The factors of consumer behavior and their relationship with economic parameters have been investigated and determined. Macro-environmental factors force consumers to adapt to circumstances beyond their control. A review of studies related to dependence of changes in the purchasing patterns of country’s population and its economic and political environment has been conducted and presented. Insufficient data has been found in the studies, and therefore a sociological method has been used to collect primary information among the demographic group of women under 35, who are the most prone to making impulsive purchases. Based on the obtained results analysis, the hypothesis about the impact of state’s economic instability on the consumer behavior of its population has been confirmed. Based on the implemented research results, general recommendations have been formulated for businesses in the following segments: confectionery, bakeries, and coffee shops. The outlined options for business growth points in these categories correspond to the identified trend towards making impulsive purchases by Russians as a way to deal with stress caused by instability and uncertainty of the country’s economic condition, which is confirmed by a review of scientific sources, statistical data, and the collecting expert opinion. A further research vector has been proposed.

Abstract

A comprehensive analysis of the historical and political factors that led to forming an original path of the Russian civilization development has been carried out. The complex of interrelated reasons has been considered, from Russia’s unique geopolitical position between East and West to the deeply rooted Orthodox worldview, which influenced national identity and the spiritual and moral guidelines of society. Considerable attention has been paid to the study of the power relations specifics, in particular, the steady trend towards a centralized management model and the dominant role of the state as the main source of order and legitimacy. The key historical cycles have been analyzed, which manifest themselves in alternating phases of modernization breakthroughs and periods of conservative return, which has been interpreted as a characteristic feature of Russian political dynamics. The importance of the phenomenon of the state’s priority over the interests of individual and civil society, reflected in historical memory, political culture, and institutional practices, has been emphasized. The research has been carried out using an interdisciplinary approach that combines political science, historical, and socio-cultural analysis. This approach provides an opportunity to understand more deeply the nature of Russian statehood and the specifics of its evolution over the centuries. The issue of historical management models’ continuity and their impact on modern political processes in Russia has been considered. The emphasis has been placed on the deep cultural codes that determine the attitude of society to power, freedom, and justice. The conclusions presented in the paper will be useful for understanding the stable features of Russian political culture and forecasting its further transformation in the context of global modern challenges.

Abstract

The phenomenon of patriotism representation as a social value in modern digital environment has been studied, with an emphasis on social networks as a communication channel that has a significant impact on forming worldview of younger generation. The theoretical framework consists of the axiological approach to defining patriotism as a value and the tools of dramatic sociology by I. Hoffman in the context of the analysis of the values representation phenomenon in social networks. A process-information approach to communication has been applied to analyze patriotism value representation in social networks. Through the prism of classical communication models (the linear model of G. Lasswell, the mathematical model of Shannon-Weaver, and the circular model of Osgood-Schramm), the key components of translating patriotic narratives in the digital environment as a communicative process have been considered and illustrated, in particular, the mechanisms used in transmissing such signals, communication barriers (noise) that hinder successful communication, and the role of feedback in building and correcting communication strategies. The results obtained emphasize the multidimensional nature of representation in social networks, demonstrating both the positive effects of communication (widespread dissemination and assimilation of patriotic values) and the negative ones (the risk of semantic distortions that deform information perception). The research contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the value representation process in a networked society, emphasizing the importance of a combined analysis that considers the maximum number of components of the communication process.

Abstract

The specifics of forming university’s social capital as a system of social ties, norms of interaction, and trust that arise in interpersonal and professional spaces has been considered. The purpose of the study is to expand the conceptual provisions of the social capital theory in relation to university development in the context of the resource-institutional approach. It has been proved that social capital as a communication resource is transformed into desired results under the influence of institutional factors (moral, legal, and economic norms and customs governing the activities of people and organizations), which allows the subjects of various relations to benefit. A model transforming internal and external university communications (intangible elements of social capital) into practical results (publications, technologies, inventions, and projects) that form the final performance indicators for education, science, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the “third mission” has been presented. The key directions of social capital development have been demonstrated using the example of the Ural Federal University, the importance of strategic partnership with representatives of science and business, stimulating research and innovative entrepreneurial activities of employees, maintaining long-term relationships with graduates, and forming a social culture in the professional environment of the university has been noted. The study showed the reciprocal impact of social capital on the university’s activities. On the one hand, social resources materialize into performance indicators and competitive advantages, and on the other, the results achieved make it possible to improve the mechanisms of social capital accumulation (employee motivation, communication technologies among stakeholders).

Abstract

Two dependencies have been considered in comparison, which are similar in form, representing dependencies with a maximum of approximately the same values in standard scores or comparative weights, but at the same time completely different in linear Pearson correlation within the accepted rules of its interpretation. These are the dependence of the Sensitivity (SMI-2) variable of the Smishek questionnaire on the Respect for others – self-esteem (25F-10) variable of the five-factor personality questionnaire with a negative (– 0.218) significant correlation and the dependence of the Guilt Feeling (AGR-8) variable of the A. Bass and A. Darki methodology on the Pedantry (SMI-7) variable of the Smishek questionnaire with a positive (0.225) significant correlation. These correlations are significant at the level of p = 0.01, that is, according to the unspoken rules accepted by the majority of the psychological scientific community, they deserve a lot of attention in order to be presented as the study result. With this approach, two strong dependencies with a maximum should be considered as two opposite relationships: one as a direct relationship (increasing dependence), the other as an inverse relationship (decreasing dependence), which qualitatively changes both the interpretation of the results and possible practical recommendations. For clarity, all information has been illustrated with graphical representations of the analyzed dependencies.

Abstract

Digitalization has had a significant impact on various aspects of public life. In the context of economy, this process has led to active development of e-commerce sector, an increase in the number of online businesses, and a change in consumption patterns of goods and services. In catering sphere, as an important element of economy, innovative technologies bring changes both to the cooking process and to consumption experience. Special attention has been paid to such risks as a decrease in the level of personal communication, emergence of dependence on automated systems, as well as stress and burnout among employees. The survey conducted among respondents of different generations showed the variety of adaptive strategies they apply in response to modern challenges. The effectiveness of these strategies significantly affects the approaches to risk management in Russian catering enterprises. The key aspects of digital technologies impact on interpersonal interactions within management structures, as well as on consumer behavior, have been considered. Using methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis, the study reveals the impact of digitalization on collective norms and values, as well as on the psycho-emotional state of employees in the changing market. The study results emphasize the need to develop strategies aimed at minimizing the negative consequences of digital transformations, such as adapting management models and implementing programs to support the psycho-emotional well-being of employees.

Abstract

The interrelation of self-control and life satisfaction among students of different courses of higher education institutions has been considered. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of this interrelationship at various stages of the educational process. A sample of full-time students from Moscow universities, covering five bachelor’s and specialist’s degree courses, has been used as an empirical base. The methodological tools included the Short Self-Control Scale (Brief Self-Control Scale), the Social Self-Control Scale (Self-Monitoring Scale), the Life Satisfaction Scale (Satisfaction with Life Scale), and the Subjective Happiness Scale (Subjective Happiness Scale). Statistical data processing has been carried out using the Shapiro-Wilk criterion to verify the distribution normality and Pearson correlation analysis to assess the interrelationship of the studied indicators. The results demonstrated that self-control positively correlates with life satisfaction in the junior years, reaching its maximum significance in the third year. At the senior stages, the impact of self-regulation weakens, giving way to social factors. The revealed patterns emphasize the need for a differentiated approach to psychological support for students, considering the stages of their professional and personal development. The prospect of further research is to analyze the impact of individual personality characteristics and external social determinants on subjective well-being regulation in the educational environment. The use of the longitudinal approach and additional methodological strategies will make it possible to clarify the mechanisms underlying these relationships.
